ARLIS/NA Ontario Vice Chair Election – Vote Now!

After a long search for a Chapter Vice Chair, we are delighted to announce that ARLIS/NAOntario member, Cynthia Dempster, has nominated herself for the position. As per the ARLIS/NA Ontario bylaws, election of all executive members occurs by a vote of our membership, so we need you! To vote, please send an email with the word “Yay” or “Nay” to treasurer.arlisna.ontario@gmail.com by Wednesday, December 16th.

A bit about Cynthia:

“I would like to offer my services as Vice Chair of the Ontario ARLIS/NA chapter.  I have an MI from the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto, in the Library and Information Science stream. I have an MA in Drama and BA in English from the University of Toronto. I am a studio artist. I have exhibited my work at various galleries in Ontario. I paint in most mediums, including my greatest love: watercolour. I create pen & ink drawings and junk sculptures. I am currently doing occasional programming work with the Children’s Department of North York Central Public Library, i.e.: playing the piano at story time. I am also taking courses: Art History, French, etc. I am very interested in art librarianship andARLIS. I am committed to sharing resources, networking and the fun support the organization offers.”

A bit about the position:

The Vice Chair position requires a three-year commitment: the incumbent will spend one year as Vice Chair, followed by one year as Chair and one year as Past-Chair. The Vice Chair is responsible for:

  1. Performing the duties of the Chair in case of the Chair’s inability to serve;
  2. Acting as Program Chair;
  3. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Committee.

If this vote proves unsuccessful, we will continue our call for a new Vice Chair of the Chapter.
