We are looking for one student representative from each of the University of Toronto Faculty of Information and the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Information and Media Studies. Student representatives are part of the Chapter Executive and are expected to represent the ARLIS/NA Ontario chapter to students at their respective institutions. Duties include: promoting the Chapter and art librarianship as a whole; assisting the Chapter with various fundraising, professional, and administrative events; and organizing student tours and/or events. It is an excellent opportunity to liaise with and meet art librarians in Ontario, and to gain exposure to the field of art librarianship. The time commitment is modest, but the exposure is invaluable.
The nomination period is open until Sunday, August 30 at 5:00 pm. Following the closure of the nomination window, an email will be circulated with the names and statements of interested candidates with a link to vote. After the voting period ends, the successful candidates will be announced.
To nominate yourself, send an email to treasurer.arlisna.ontario@gmail.com with the following information:
1. Your name
2. Your affiliation (iSchool or FIMS)
3. A statement of interest (i.e. who you are, the basis for your interest in art librarianship, and anything else you think is interesting or pertinent)
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Catherine Falls at the above email address. Finally – spread the word! If you know somebody who might be interested, please let them know.
Best of luck to all candidates!
